Mr. Waxman is the immediate past chair of the firm's Business Group and a former member of the firm's Executive Committee, having served two terms in each post.  He also leads the firm’s Structured Finance and Alternative Entity practice.  Scott's practice extends into international, federal, state and local taxation, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, as well as most areas of business and commercial law.   However, the focus of Scott's practice relates to organizational and operational issues related to statutory trusts, partnerships, limited liability companies and special purpose corporations.  Scott is the Chair of Delaware's Alternative Entities Subcommittee, which is responsible for drafting Delaware's preeminent partnership and limited liability company statutes.  In addition, he serves on Delaware's Statutory Trust Committee, which is responsible for drafting Delaware's renowned statutory trust statute.  Service on these small and prestigious committees provides Scott with a unique opportunity to participate in the crafting of some of Delaware's most important legislation.  In addition, he has a unique perspective into the legislative history and intent behind the annual changes to these statutes that are drafted to ensure Delaware's continued preeminence in these areas.  Scott is also a senior member of the firm's Opinion Committee.
