Ms. Geiger concentrates her practice on intellectual property law, primarily involving patent and trade secret law, emcompassing biotechnology, and pharmaceutical and chemical products. She prepares and prosecutes patent applications, renders infringement and validity opinions, assists in licensing matters, and conducts IP due diligence in the context of business transactions and corporate mergers and acquisitions. She also oversees the trademark legal services provided by the firm, and provides support and patent advice to the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation group, in mergers and acquisitions, and in E-commerce matters. Ms. Geiger recently was recognized by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business for her work in the area of intellectual property law.
Prior to joining Potter Anderson & Corroon, Ms. Geiger worked as in-house patent counsel at E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, serving DuPont's Central Research and Development division in providing patent services in the chemical and biotechnology areas. She also served as lead counsel for Haskel Laboratories, DuPont's in-house toxicology and safety laboratory, and served as lead patent and business counsel for DuPont's Qualicon® food pathogen testing business.
Subsequent to her years at DuPont, she joined SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceutical Company, serving as patent counsel in the vaccine, molecular biology and virology pharmaceutical development areas. In this capacity, she served as patent representative on drug development projects, participated in IP diligence projects concerning pharmaceutical licenses and acquisitions, and managed outside patent counsel in regard to SmithKline's patent litigation.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Geiger was employed as a chemist responsible for air and water pollution analyses by the State of Tennessee and as a product development chemist at a research enzyme company.
