Mr. Waxman is the Chairman of the firm's Business practice group and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.  Mr. Waxman is also the Chairman of the firm’s Structured Finance and Alternative Entity group.  Mr. Waxman's practice extends into international, federal, state and local taxation, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, as well as most areas of business and commercial law, however the focus of Mr. Waxman's practice relates to organizational and operational issues related to statutory trusts, partnerships, limited liability companies and special purpose corporations.  Mr. Waxman serves on Delaware's Partnership Committee, which is responsible for drafting Delaware's preeminent partnership and limited liability company statutes.  In addition, Mr. Waxman serves on Delaware's Statutory Trust Committee, which is responsible for drafting Delaware's renowned statutory trust statute.  Service on these small and prestigious committees provides Mr. Waxman with a unique opportunity to participate in the crafting of some of Delaware's most important legislation.  In addition, Mr. Waxman has a unique perspective into the legislative history and intent behind the annual changes to these statutes that are drafted to ensure Delaware's continued preeminence in these areas.  Mr. Waxman is also a senior member of the firm's Opinion Committee.

Mr. Waxman has been ranked first overall in Delaware in the Alternative Entities subcategory of Corporate/M&A in Chambers USA:  America's Leading Lawyers for Business, one of the most respected legal rankings in the world.  Chambers observed that, "there is no question [Scott] cannot answer."  In addition, it stated that "Scott Waxman is said to be 'a master in his field', he 'knows alternative entity law inside-out', is a 'terrifically hard worker' and has an 'indefatigable dedication to serving' his clients.  Popular among peers and clients, he is rated for his technical accuracy and commitment to client needs."  (Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2007, 2006, 2005).
