Potter Anderson Partner Elected to Delaware State Bar Executive Committee

Theresa V. Brown-Edwards, a partner in the Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring Group of Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP, has been elected by the Delaware State Bar Association to serve on the executive committee as Secretary for the 2009 – 2010 term.  Previously, Ms. Brown-Edwards served as Vice President, New Castle County.  The Delaware State Bar Association consists of more than 4,000 members and through the work of its many sections and committees, the Bar Association is regularly involved in matters pertaining to the profession, to the enforcement of law, and assuring equal access to the justice system for every citizen. 

Ms. Brown-Edwards concentrates her practice on corporate reorganization and has significant experience representing Chapter 11 debtors and debtors-in-possession.  She also focuses her attention on the protection of creditors' rights, including the representations of creditors' committees, second lien holders' committees, lenders, landlords, equipment and aircraft lessors, and trade creditors, among others.

Ms. Brown-Edwards received her B.A. from Cornell University and her J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, where she was a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and held internships with The Honorable Conrad B. Duberstein, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York and The Honorable Cornelius Blackshear of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. She served as a law clerk to The Honorable Novalyn L. Winfield, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Before joining Potter Anderson, Ms. Brown-Edwards was associated with the Delaware office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
