Potter Anderson & Corroon’s Kathleen Furey McDonough Receives Caleb R. Layton, III Service Award from the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. – Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP partner Kathleen Furey McDonough has received the Caleb R. Layton, III Service Award, awarded by the judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in recognition of her service to the Court and the Bar of the Court. 

The annual award is given to those who personify the qualities of a federal practitioner: legal acumen, professional decorum, and public service. It is named for the late Caleb R. Layton, III, who served as a resident judge of the Superior Court of New Castle County for 10 years before being appointed U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Delaware. 

U.S. District Court Judge Gregory M. Sleet presented the award to McDonough during a ceremony in which he praised her skill as a lawyer and her outstanding contributions to the Court and its Bar, noting her work as chair of the U.S. District Court Advisory Committee.

McDonough founded and heads the Labor and Employment practice group at Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP and represents management clients in a full range of disputes.  She also counsels a number of secondary and post-secondary institutions with respect to employment and education law issues.  She serves as counsel to clients on all aspects of personnel policies and practices, with a strong emphasis on litigation avoidance.  McDonough regularly represents employers in both federal and state court.  She received her J.D. from Temple University School of Law and a B.A. from Saint Joseph’s University.
