Potter Anderson & Corroon served as Delaware counsel on the legal team representing Acushnet Co. in the recently completed golf ball patent trial brought in Delaware District Court by Callaway Golf Co., relating to the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. Richard Horwitz, a partner in the firm’s litigation practice, led the Potter Anderson team, along with partner David Moore, working with a team of lawyers from Howrey.  The Delaware jury found in favor of Acushnet Co., owner of the Titleist brand, ruling that all four asserted patents were invalid, as anticipated and obvious.

In the week-long trial, Callaway had been seeking approximately $250 million in damages.
