Potter Anderson & Corroon Attorney Appointed Co-Chairwoman of Philadelphia Bar Association Committee
Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP is pleased to announce that Barbara Uberti Manerchia has been appointed co-chairwoman of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association. The committee promotes professional excellence by providing a forum for lawyers to discuss developments in the field of employee benefits and by educating fellow lawyers in key employee benefit topics.
Mrs. Manerchia is a member of the firm’s Business group and heads the employee benefits and executive compensation practice. She represents clients in matters related to tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans and executive compensation. She counsels corporate, non-profit and governmental clients with respect to the design and administration of benefit programs. Ms. Manerchia also leads Potter Anderson's Women's Initiative, which provides the firm's women attorneys with opportunities to engage in networking, community service and client development.
Mrs. Manerchia served as a member and as chairwoman of the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council, which advises the Secretary of Labor on matters of national interest affecting retirement and welfare plans. She also served as chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the National Employee Benefit Trust School for the American Bankers Association. Mrs. Manerchia is the President of the Wilmington Tax Group and is Chairwoman of the Development Committee of Girls Inc.
Mrs. Manerchia received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Villanova University. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
