Potter Anderson Partner Joy A. Barrist Elected to ACMA Executive Committee

Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP (Potter Anderson) is pleased to announce that firm partner Joy A. Barrist has been elected for a five-year term to the Executive Committee of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA).

A Fellow of ACMA since 2015, Barrist will serve as the organization’s secretary, which began this past weekend, followed by successive one-year terms as ACMA’s treasurer, vice president, president, and past-president.

Barrist represents banks and lending institutions, private equity firms, non-profit organizations, investors, developers, owners, management companies, landlords, and tenants, providing a full range of commercial real estate legal services. She provides guidance to both lenders and borrowers in the finance, acquisition, sale, lease, and development of complex multimillion-dollar real estate projects. In addition to practicing in Delaware and Pennsylvania, she works with clients on projects around the country and internationally.

Barrist’s practice also includes representations with respect to other commercial real estate and general business matters, such as easements, lot purchase agreements, sale and purchases of business assets, operating companies and ownership interests in business entities, the formation of Delaware entities and the rendering of legal opinions in finance and other commercial transactions. 

Formed in 1974, ACMA is a professional group with less than 600 real estate finance attorney Fellows across North America. The group’s Fellows have distinguished themselves as practitioners in the field of real estate mortgage law through their skills and practice experience, bar association activities, lecturing, authoring articles and program materials, participation in the legislative process, and writing briefs and/or arguing cases that are significant to mortgage transactions.
