Barrist and O’Toole Present on Legal Opinions at Virtual Real Estate Law Conference

Partners Joy Barrist and Matt O’Toole were panelists at the 32nd Annual RPTE National CLE Conference, which was held as a virtual event. The “Legal Opinions: Liability of Opinion Giver and Other Topics” panel included discussions of legal opinions on common law trusts, legal opinions on Delaware entities, litigation against opinion givers, and unreasonable opinion requests and comments.

Barrist offers a full range of commercial real estate law services involving the finance, acquisition, sale, lease and development of complex multimillion-dollar real estate projects throughout Delaware, around the country and internationally. A frequent speaker on topics of commercial real estate, real estate finance and construction lending, she is the chair of the RPTE Mortgage Lending Committee.

O’Toole, chair of Potter Anderson’s Business Group, concentrates his practice on corporate and commercial transactions, particularly the structure and use of Delaware business entities, including corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships (general and limited) and statutory trusts. His practice frequently involves providing third-party legal opinions concerning Delaware’s General Corporation Law, Delaware’s alternative entity statutes, the Delaware UCC and other applicable law.
