Reed and Ward Discuss IP Basics for Innovative Life Science Companies

Speaking Engagement

Janet Reed and Rob Ward will present “Protect Your Ideas: Intellectual Property Basics” for the Delaware BioScience Association’s Summertime Lunch & Learn Series. Their discussion is designed to help life science entrepreneurs navigate the intellectual property issues critical to translating concepts into sustainable, thriving businesses.

Reed is the head of the firm’s intellectual property transactional and counseling practice. Though she counsels in all aspects of intellectual property, Janet focuses her practice on patents related to biotechnological inventions in food, medicine and agriculture. She has extensive experience in domestic and foreign patent prosecution, patent portfolio management and strategic planning, evaluation of new technology, drafting of license and other commercialization agreements, conducting and responding to due diligence inquiries, and preparation of opinions on patentability, infringement and freedom to operate.

Ward’s practice includes patent and trademark preparation and prosecution; non-infringement opinions; due diligence; and intellectual property licensing. Technical areas of his practice include biotechnology (such as biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, bacteriology), plant genetics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and herbicides, screening and diagnostic assays, drug delivery devices, and treatment methods.
