9:00am – 10:30am

President Biden’s recent announcement of far-reaching vaccination mandates and the challenges of dealing with employee requests for vaccination exemptions are high priority issues for many employers right now. At the same time, employers are grappling with ever-changing return-to-work plans and accommodation policies.

In addition to COVID-related issues, employers should have on their radar screens proposed legislation that would allow Delaware workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave through a statewide insurance program.  Employers also need to plan for the possibility that recreational marijuana use will be legalized in Delaware, adding to the complexities employers already are navigating with employees and applicants who are medical marijuana cardholders.

Please join Jennifer Gimler Brady, Kathleen Furey McDonough, Jennifer Penberthy Buckley and Clarissa Chenoweth-Shook for an in-depth discussion on the latest developments impacting employers today:

  • What employers need to know about vaccine mandates, accommodation requests, and return to work plans
We’ll discuss President Biden’s vaccination mandate for employers, best practices for responding to employee requests for vaccination exemptions, and the potential impact of rising infection rates on return to work plans.
  • Proposed legislation for paid family and medical leave in Delaware
We’ll review Delaware State Senator Sarah McBride’s proposed legislation that would provide Delaware workers with up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave.
  • Marijuana issues in the workplace
We’ll highlight some of the challenges employers confront when employees and applicants are medical marijuana cardholders, and we’ll discuss the prospects for legalization of recreational marijuana use in Delaware, including potential impacts on the workplace.
