Labor & Employment Law Seminar: Predicting, Preventing and Responding to Workplace Violence

We've all seen the terrifying headlines. Almost daily, there are reports of violence erupting in workplaces across the country, ranging from terroristic threats and stalking, to physical assaults, to mass casualty events. Employers need to take all reasonable precautions to protect employees from workplace violence, but employers often struggle with developing an effective workplace violence prevention and response program.

Please join us for a compelling, candid, and can’t-miss seminar that examines workplace violence from the perspectives of threat assessment, proactive prevention strategies, identifying, managing, and de-escalating potentially violent employees, and responding to active incidents of violence. We’ll also discuss legal issues associated with an employer’s efforts to address problematic workplace behaviors that implicate mental disabilities.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 18, 2023

WHERE: Riverfront Events
760 Justison Street
Wilmington, DE 19801

You will hear from Dr. Raymond Carr, a former FBI agent who has been involved with the investigations of multiple mass shooting and casualty events. Dr. Carr is an expert on threat assessment in the workplace, including red flags that can’t be ignored and best practices for responding to active incidents.

You also will hear from Dr. Wes Bowman, a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience consulting with employers on issues such as identifying, managing and de-escalating potentially violent employees, as well as developing effective employee assistance programs that support and maximize the well-being of employees.

Then, Potter Anderson’s labor and employment attorneys will explore legal issues associated with workplace violence prevention and managing employees who are demonstrating concerning or red flag behaviors.
